I like the intro page covering the details of Chaos War for people who didn't pick that up.

Good to see Shaman's 'astral form' being used.

They must have done so much research. Anne Mackenzie (what was I whinging about in a review ). Astral form and the call implant. Being sentimental and not meaning to diss all those who tried to make Alpha great again, this should have been vol 2.

I'm going to pick a few nits about the Shaman page: First of all, TWOYOUNGMEN

Secondly, he didn't have a signal implant. Already discussed HERE but I'll list it again for those too lazy to click:

The list of recipients of the original Dept H microchip implant is:

      Mac (probably not)
      Heather NO
      Shaman NO
      Snowbird NO
Sasquatch YES (later destroyed when his body crumbled)
      Aurora YES
      Northstar YES (removed)
      Puck YES
      Marrina NO (amulet only)
+ anyone else after that NO

So Shaman must have gotten one implanted, which is hard for me to understand.
(Heather must have gotten one implanted too, but it might be a cybernetic suit thingy, dunno)

Thirdly, the astral form - from how I've usually seen astral forms, the body sits still and is in a coma-like or otherwise suspended state while he consciousness flies off... I don't see how he can do the surgery and be in astral form at the same time.

Except for that, loved the other pages. Also loved the green jumpsuit for Walter which we haven't seen in like, forever.

This is awesome beyond words. From the classic "call to arms" alert, to the establishment of what is to come with the Unity Party -- this is true to form Alpha Flight. Pak and Van Lente have done a fantastic job with characterisation.

I'd almost expect it to end with Puck saying "I busted my buns to get into Alpha Flight, there'd better be an Alpha Flight!"

Only a week to go to Alpha awesomeness!

I like it. Although I think Oliver's Sasquatch looks more like Rahne that Walter.

It just means Shaman is more powerful than Xavier!

The typical astral form I was thinking of was more like the magic-type as demonstrated by Dr. Strange, not the telepathic-type as demonstrated by Xavier. I think it would make more sense to compare Shaman to Dr. Strange's power set than to Xavier's mutant powers.

But I do agree with you that Shaman is more powerful than Xavier. The guy frakkin saved a town from a nuclear explosion once!! (ref. Avengers #321-4 Crossing Line arc) and just basically can kick baldy's butt in a fight, wheelchair or not.

I've never found Shaman to be strange. Oh, a bit distant at times in his family relations, maybe a tad 'weird' with all the magical stuff he pulls from his magic handbag, but never strange.

Maybe all of the team got implants after the resurrection and Alpha Flight re-formed? Although, we don't know if Northstar has one again or not.

Originally, Snowbird couldn't have one put in because it was stated if she bled something bad would happen or some such (although she bled during the battle with Kolomaq and healed herself after)...There's no indication from the preview that she has an implant now...Same with Walter. I believe Mac did originally have an implant (issue #11, which he used to signal Shaman), as did Shaman (issue#12, who then activated the rest of the team's implants)...if I'm reading that correctly. I don't recall it ever being officially stated that Shaman didn't have the implant.

I don't understand the misspelling of Shaman's last name, though...It's just common sense that his name would be Twoyoungmen (Two-young-men)...Twoyoungman makes very little sense.
