Synopsis: A scientist named Hedison uncovers Silver and Auric, dead in
Rutherford, NJ. At the funeral, Heather is unable to mourn them, Parker shows up
as a journalist, and Kyle tears open the coffins, revealing dummies: the bodies
are gone.
Heather goes to the X-Men for help; they find out Hedison said they were alive
and gave him "the power." He was later kidnapped by the Chess Set. Spider-man
comes to help, and Nemesis plots with Kyle to get blood vengeance. Judd and
Spider-man go to bars for information and track the Chess Set to a supposedly
abandoned air strip, where the Brass Bishop is auctioning off the bodies of
Silver, Auric, and Hedison. It seems they contain energy released by the Sphinx
when he imploded.
Heather, Spider-man, Nemesis, Judd, and Kyle attack. Nemesis impetuously
damages the nexus, which releases a new being, sprung from the three corpses.
Heather convinces him not to go on a killing spree, and he ports away. Kyle
prevents Nemesis from killing the Bishop, and Heather is able to cry for their
fallen comrades.
