Writer Steve Orlando teased an additional Alphan appearance in today's MARAUDERS ANNUAL, but the return of Stitch was certainly a deep cut!
Stitch, aka Jodi Furman, was first introduced in the flashback/retcon one shot ALPHA FLIGHT SPECIAL in 1992, and despite a further flashback in 1993's ALPHA FLIGHT #127 was never seen in concurrent continuity.
She later briefly appeared as an on screen floating head in 2008's WOLVERINE: FIRST CLASS #5, and also an alternate reality version in 1994's WHAT IF...? #62.
Today's release shows Stitch alive and living in Alberta, Canada, where she's saved by Aurora from the hands of an anti-mutant terrorist.
Stitch remains silent throughout her appearance, with her trademark telekinetically controlled needle ever present.
No detail is given as to what she's been up to since the First Flight, or whether she actually died way back, and has been resurrected.
After Jeanne-Marie defeats her captor she states "I'm sorry Stitch. We all deserve safety after surviving Department H. But you won'd find it here."
Could this be her invitation to the mutant state of Krakoa?
Might we see Stitch again?
We don't know, but we do appreciate the research and detail Orlando put in!
Aurora will continue to show up in the pages of MARAUDERS, starting with March's #1.
